What is water source for Dholera?

The water for Dholera comes mostly from the Narmada River canals and big machines that clean up salty water. It is a smart plan because the ground there is very salty, so they have to bring in fresh water from far away.

Where the water starts its journey

I have been looking at dirt and buildings for over fifty years now. Back in the day, we did not have these fancy Special Investment Regions or smart city plans. We just dug a hole and hoped for the best. But Dholera is different. It is a dry place. You cannot just drink what is under your feet.

  • The biggest source is the Narmada Canal system. The government built these long paths for water to travel across Gujarat.
  • The Sardar Sarovar Dam is like the big heart that pumps this water.
  • I remember visiting a site near there ten years ago. The sun was so hot it felt like it would melt my shoes. Seeing a canal in that heat is like seeing gold.
  • They also use Desalination plants. These are giant factories that take the salt out of sea water.
  • Because Dholera is near the ocean, they have plenty of salty water to use if the river gets low.

How they keep the water clean

It is not enough to just have water. You have to make sure people do not get sick. I have seen too many projects fail because the pipes were bad or the water was brown.

  • Dholera has a Water Treatment Plant. This place scrubs the water until it is safe to drink from the tap.
  • They use something called Master Plan 2040 to decide how many pipes they need.
  • Recycled water is a big part of the deal too. They take the water you use to wash your hands and clean it up.
  • They do not waste it. They use that “second-hand” water to water the grass and trees in the parks.
  • It makes me happy to see this. When I started in 1974, we wasted so much water. It was a real shame.

Why this matters for your money

If you are thinking about buying land there, listen to an old man. A house without water is just a pile of bricks and dust. It is a piece of trash.

  • The Gujarat Industrial Development Board is making sure the pipes go in before the houses.
  • Most cities grow first and then find water later. That is a mess. Dholera is doing it backwards, which is actually the smart way.
  • I have talked to the engineers. They are proud of these pipes. They talk about them like they are their own kids.
  • If the water stops, the city dies. But with the Narmada and the sea, they have two backup plans.
  • Check the RERA Gujarat website to see if the builders are telling the truth about their water connections. Do not just take their word for it.

Buying real estate is scary. I have seen people lose their life savings because they didn’t ask about the plumbing. Dholera has a solid plan, but you should always go see it with your own eyes. Walk the land. Smell the air. If you see the big canals, you know the water is real. Don’t let anyone trick you. Stay safe out there.
