How to reach Dholera from Delhi?

Getting from Delhi to Dholera is a long trip, but you can do it easily by taking a flight to Ahmedabad and then a taxi for the last part. Most people choose the plane because it saves a lot of time, though trains and buses are also options if you want to see the countryside.

The Fastest Way: Fly to Ahmedabad

If you want to reach fast, you should look for a flight from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. I have been watching travel routes for decades, and the air path is always the smoothest for business people and investors.

  • Book a flight to Ahmedabad: You need to land at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Flights take about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Hire a private taxi: Once you land, do not take a slow bus. Hire a car right from the airport.
  • The Drive: The road from Ahmedabad to Dholera is about 100 kilometers long. It usually takes 2 hours.
  • Watch the road: You will drive on the Ahmedabad-Bagodara-Fedra highway. It is a big, open road that is getting better every year because of the new Expressway being built.

The Train Journey: For the Patient Traveler

I remember when trains were the only way we moved across India. It takes longer, but it is much cheaper than a plane. There is no big train station inside Dholera yet, so you have to stop nearby.

  • Catch a train from Delhi: Look for trains like the Ashram Express or the Swarna Jayanti Rajdhani. These go from Delhi to Ahmedabad.
  • The time it takes: A fast train will take around 13 to 15 hours. I suggest taking an overnight train so you can sleep and wake up in Gujarat.
  • Getting off: Get down at the Ahmedabad Junction station.
  • The last leg: From the station, you can take a bus or a cab. If you want to save money, go to the Gita Mandir bus stand and find a bus going towards Bhavnagar. Ask the driver to drop you at the Dholera junction.

The Road Trip: Driving from Delhi

Some people like to drive their own cars. It is a very long way, almost 950 kilometers. I only suggest this if you love sitting in a car for a whole day and night.

  • Route: You will mostly stay on National Highway 48. This road goes through Rajasthan.
  • Cities you will pass: You will drive through Gurgaon, Jaipur, Ajmer, and Udaipur.
  • Rest stops: You must stop at least two times. I usually tell people to stay a night in Udaipur because it is beautiful and halfway there.
  • Entering Gujarat: Once you enter Gujarat, the roads become very flat and fast. Follow the signs for Ahmedabad and then Bhavnagar.

Why I suggest the flight

After 5 + years of seeing how people travel, I have learned that time is money. If you are going to Dholera to look at land or check on a factory, you do not want to arrive tired. The flight plus a taxi is the best way to keep your head clear. The Dholera Special Investment Region is a huge place, and you will need your energy to walk around and see the Town Planning maps.

Important things to remember

  • Plan for heat: Gujarat can get very hot. Always carry water in your car.
  • Check the map: Use your phone to check for traffic near Vataman or Fedra because sometimes big trucks slow things down.
  • Booking early: Always book your taxi or train a few days before you leave Delhi.

Dholera is growing into a Smart City, so soon there might even be a direct airport there. But for now, sticking to the Ahmedabad route is your safest and smartest bet. I hope this helps you get there without any trouble.
