The distance between Dholera Special Investment Region and GIFT City in Gandhinagar is about 130 to 140 kilometers. If you are driving a car, it usually takes around 2.5 to 3 hours to get from one place to the other.
Understanding the distance
I have been watching cities grow out of the dust for over 5+ years. I remember when Gandhinagar was mostly empty land and people thought it was too far away from everything. Now, everyone wants to be there. When we talk about the distance between Dholera and GIFT City, we are talking about two very different dreams connected by a long road.
- The actual road distance: Most maps will show you a path of 135 kilometers. This path goes through the Ahmedabad-Bagodara highway.
- The time it takes: Do not trust the maps that say it takes two hours. I have driven these roads many times. Between the traffic near Ahmedabad and the trucks on the highway, you should always plan for three hours of travel.
- The location of GIFT City: It sits between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. It is a place for big banks and tall glass buildings.
- The location of Dholera: It is much further south, near the Gulf of Khambhat. It is being built as a massive industrial city, much bigger than GIFT City in size.
Why this distance matters for your money
When I started in real estate back 5+ years ago, we didn’t have fancy Special Investment Regions. We just had land and a gut feeling. Today, people ask me if they should buy land in Dholera because they like GIFT City.
- They are not neighbors: Some sellers make it sound like you can walk from one to the other. You cannot. They are in different parts of Gujarat.
- The connection: The government is building a new express highway and a metro train. When these are finished, the 130 kilometers will feel much shorter because the roads will be smooth and fast.
- Different purposes: GIFT City is for finance and technology. Dholera SIR is for big factories, making things like microchips and airplanes. They work together like a brain and a hand.
My honest advice after 5+ years in the field
I have seen people lose their life savings because they bought land without looking at a real map. They hear a name like “Dholera” and think it is right next to the capital. It is not.
- Check the RERA numbers: Before you give anyone money, check the Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority website. If the project is not there, it is a piece of trash. Stay away.
- Look at the Town Planning: In Dholera, they use something called TP schemes. You need to know if your land is in TP 1, TP 2, or somewhere else. The distance to the Dholera International Airport is also very important.
- Be patient: Building a city from nothing takes a long time. I watched it happen in other places, and it never happens overnight. If you buy today, do not expect to build a house tomorrow.
The distance is just a number. What matters is the growth corridor. As Ahmedabad expands, it is reaching out toward both of these places. One day, this whole area will be one giant circle of business. But for now, keep your gas tank full because it is a long drive. I hope this helps you understand the map a little better. I just want to see people make smart choices with their hard-earned cash.
